Cool Wirral Strategy Refresh

In Wirral, we have a target of 2041 to be net carbon neutral (this means that the amount of carbon that we produce compared to what we take out of the atmosphere is balanced). This target has been agreed by the Cool Wirral Partnership.

The Cool Wirral Partnership (formerly the Wirral Climate Change Group) co-ordinates local action on climate change. The partnership is made up of Wirral Council and local organisations such as housing associations, emergency services, local NHS, local action groups, community groups and the faith sector.

To achieve the 2041 target, a strategy, known as Cool 2, was developed and endorsed by all partners of the Cool Wirral Partnership in December 2019. Cool 2 builds on the previous Wirral Climate Change Strategy 2014 – 2019.

The partnership is now in the process of reviewing the Cool 2 strategy, to set new actions and build on those in the previous strategies – and want your input to help shape what should be delivered in Wirral over the next five years.

Some proposed actions have been developed by partners of Cool Wirral through a series of workshops. To find out more about the partnership and the purpose of this survey, please visit our FAQs.

Tell us what you think

Take the below survey.

The survey includes the proposed actions for the new climate strategy for Wirral, and how they can be delivered. The survey includes questions about how important you think the different actions are, if there is more that could be done, and what benefits you feel like the actions will provide to yourself and the wider community. These are broken down by themes and include actions for energy, travel, resources, natural environment and adaptation.

What happens next

This feedback will be used to help shape the proposed actions and how they are delivered. A refreshed strategy will be developed and agreed by the Cool Wirral Partnership.

The whole partnership will take ownership and be responsible for the delivery of the strategy, working in collaboration with each other, including seeking funding through grants, to make the actions happen.
