Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment 2025-2028
Your views wanted – how are pharmacies serving Wirral residents?
Residents are asked to provide feedback on the draft Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment document, which sets out the borough’s need for pharmacy services for the next three years.
On 13 March 2025, Wirral’s Health and Wellbeing Board published a draft of its latest Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment (PNA) for 2025/2028. The PNA is a detailed review of pharmacy provision in the borough, and an assessment of whether this provision meets local need.
The review is used by NHS commissioning managers when applications for new pharmacies are being assessed. It is a statutory document, which is produced every three years.
This draft has been informed by a ‘user experience survey’, undertaken at the end of 2024, which invited people who use pharmacies in Wirral to share feedback, thoughts and experiences.
Results from the survey, alongside data and other information, were used to produce the current draft that is now available for residents to read and provide feedback on.
Wirral’s Health and Wellbeing board is now asking residents to comment on the draft 2025/2028 PNA, particularly if there are omissions, additions or any general comments that can be made.
The draft PNA can be found in the documents section on this page.
The survey opens at 10am on Wednesday 9 April 2025 and the deadline to submit your responses is 10pm on Sunday 15 June 2025.
A new PNA will be published by 1 October 2025.
