Wirral Parking Strategy Phase 2

Wirral Council is developing a new parking strategy.

We're asking for the views of people who live and work in Wirral to help to shape the new strategy.

The survey asks you to consider aspects such as parking charges and the levels they are set at, more residential parking zones, cycle and motorcycle parking, electric vehicle charging, potentially enforcing nuisance parking by the introduction of Public Space Protection Orders and the possibility of developing smart mobility hubs in key locations in the borough.

It also asks you to consider how the way people travel has changed and is set to change over the short, medium and longer terms and how both parking policies and infrastructure should also be adapted to meet these changing demands.

The aim of this work will be to create a parking strategy which, once developed, aims to:

• Help support businesses and communities across the borough

• Manage traffic (particularly through main centres)

• Improve current parking facilities

• Ensure the right type of parking is in the right place for residents and local people

• Improve access to and the ability to use more sustainable modes of transport

This consultation builds upon an earlier round of public engagement which provided a baseline of people’s opinions on car parking in the borough.

The council has also commissioned an independent report that looks at the current situation, the situation pre-Covid and emerging developments locally and nationally to present a wide range of ideas and potential improvements that can be considered as part of the new parking strategy.

The findings of the first consultation and the independent report can both be found in the documents menu on this page.

The results of both parts of the consultation will be reported to the Environment, Climate Emergency and Transport Committee in December 2023.

To help shape this strategy, please complete the survey below. This survey is open for contributions until midnight on Monday 25th September.
