Active Through Football

Consultation has concluded

This consultation has closed and the contributions have been reviewed. The consultation report is now available to view in the Documents section of this page.

Thank you for your contribution to the consultation. The findings will be used to submit a bid for funding for football activities in Wirral through the Active Through Football funding programme.

If you’re interested in football activities, we want to hear from you!

The council has the chance to bid for funding to bring more grassroots footballing opportunities to Wirral, but we need your help to do it.

We know football is really popular in Wirral and we want to know what activities you are getting involved with or if you think there is anything missing that we could add to the programme. This is our chance to access funding to develop football, enhance fitness and wellbeing and encourage enjoyment in sport in five areas of Wirral.

Our funding bid will focus on getting Birkenhead and Tranmere, Seacombe, Bidston and St. James, Rock Ferry and Liscard the activities the community wants – that’s residents, sports clubs, groups and local organisations together. And this is where you come in.

Whether it’s playing, coaching, refereeing or just supporting that interests you, we want you to tell us how we could spend the money in those communities.

We’ll be asking the National Lottery’s Active Through Football funding programme for up to £750,000 later in Spring for activities for young people ages 16 and over, and adults of all ages.

We think that showing what local people really want, and how they will get involved, will give us a really good chance at getting the money.

Tell us how you want us to deliver football in your area by filling in the short survey below or add your ideas to the Ideas Board.
