Arrowe Park Road Consultation

Arrowe Park Road provides access to Arrowe Park Hospital, the Warrens Medical Centre and Arrowe Country Park. It is an important route for people travelling to medical, employment and leisure facilities. We want to make sure everyone can reach these key destinations safely and easily.

For this reason, Arrowe Park Road has been identified for review to understand whether improvements could be made. An initial proposal was developed in 2022 but did not progress. Wirral Council has now secured funding from Active Travel England to revisit the area and work closely with local people to explore ideas for how Arrowe Park Road could be improved in the future.

This project focuses on the section of Arrowe Park Road between its junction with Woodchurch Road and the roundabout at Thingwall Road East. This area is shown on the map below.

What happens next?

This is the first phase of consultation. Using your feedback, along with technical guidance, we will develop a design for Arrowe Park Road. Funding from Active Travel England currently covers consultation and engagement to support the development of these plans. Once completed, the plans and consultation findings will be presented to the council’s Environment, Climate Emergency and Transport Committee for review.

Any future proposals for physical changes to the road would be consulted on in a second phase, and any final scheme would require formal committee approval. At this stage, funding is not available to construct a final scheme, but this engagement will help strengthen future funding applications.

Mott MacDonald (transport consultants) and PLACED (a local community engagement social enterprise) are supporting the council with this project.
