The Knife Angel is the National Monument Against Violence and Aggression, designed to recognise the problems caused in our society by these issues, especially knife crime. The monument stands at 8.2m (27ft) tall, weighing 3.5 tons, and is made from over 100,000 seized knives and weapons collected from all 43 Police Constabularies across the UK.
The Knife Angel is located at the Grand Arch, Birkenhead Park throughout July 2022 to act as a catalyst for turning the tide on violent and aggressive behaviour, and as a poignant memorial for the countless lives lost to knife crime.
The Knife Angel is intended to educate children, young people and adults about the harmful effects that violent behaviour has on communities all across our nation. It has also helped to raise better awareness, helped those carrying knives to renounce violence as a solution for solving disputes, and encouraged leading bodies to create better initiatives to turn the tide on aggressive behaviour. It symbolises a call for change whilst acting as a National Memorial for victims of knife crime and their loved ones.

Outstanding job done by the members of local churches as Chaplains. Many were impacted by the tragic figure portraying the lives lost to knife crime and the chats they had with the Chaplains.

What a way to hit home a message of anti-violence, this stunningly eerie sculpture makes you stop and count your blessings, I was almost a statistic but manage to escape from my attacker!! I drive past it everyday on my way home from work and it reminds me how incredibly lucky I am to have not become a victim of knife crime!

It's scary to think how many knives have been sized. I know someone who got stabbed trying to break up a fight, luckily they survived. I'm trying to educate my daughter on knife crime as someone she thought was her friend took a knife into her school, she couldn't see what was wrong with it and why I was so concerned. She soon changed her mind when I took her to see the knife angel.

I saw the angel when Alfie was making it. It is stunning, beautiful and so upsetting to think that every knife has been used to take a life. It is about time London took it in.
