What has happened to the plastic bags and wrapping that I recycled as part of this trial?

They are being processed by a company called Plastecowood. They will convert it into a practical material that can be used as a sustainable alternative to wood, virgin plastic, steel and concrete. This material will then be used to create benches.

What should I do with my plastic bags and wrapping now I can’t put them in my grey bin?

Please use designated plastic bags and wrapping recycling points as we will no longer be able to process them if you put them into a blue bag and/or in the grey recycling bin. Any that are, will not be able to be recycled and will be treated as general waste.

To find your nearest designated plastic bags and recycling point, please visit Recycle Now and search for the item you want to recycle.

What should I do with any leftover blue bags that I haven't used in the trial?

If you have any spare blue bags, please put them inside one of the blue bags along with any other plastic bags and wrapping you are recycling, double tie the bag and place it in your last collection of the trial.

Alternatively, you can reuse these as normal bin liners but only for non-recyclable waste. Do not use any remaining bags to continue to recycle plastic bags and wrapping in your grey bin as these will not be able to be recycled in this way after the trial ends.
