Noctorum Ridge Proposed Conservation Area - Phase 1

It is proposed that the Noctorum Ridge is to be designated a conservation area. Contributors were asked to share your views on the proposal to designate Noctorum Ridge as a conservation area and the proposed boundary area.

You Said

The questionnaire was responded to by 84 people. 54 responses came through the online portal; 30 paper copies were completed.

The key results from the survey were:

• Most people were in favour of Noctorum Ridge being designated a conservation area (92.8%), 7.2% were against.
• Most people agreed with the proposed conservation area boundary (78.3%), 20.5% thought it should be changed.
• Of those who disagreed with the proposed boundary, the main reason given was the feeling that it was too limited (43.8%) and omitted roads where significant properties were located. Conversely some respondents believed that the boundary was too encompassing and should not include newer building (25.0%).

We Did

Following consideration of the feedback received from residents, property owners and other stakeholders, together with further assessment and internal discussions within the Heritage Team, it is now proposed that a revised conservation area boundary be taken forward for consultation.

The revised proposal differs from the boundary previously consulted upon and seeks to create an extended conservation area, focused on those parts of Noctorum Ridge that most clearly demonstrate the area's special architectural and historic interest.

The revised boundary will be brought forward for consultation on the Have Your Say portal between 31 August 2026 - 9 October 2026.
