How can I get involved in Cool Wirral?

For advice on how you can reduce your carbon footprint and support climate action as a Wirral resident, visit our Climate Action site here. The site covers many areas of climate action such as saving energy at home, reducing waste, ethical investment, increasing biodiversity and other ways to get involved in climate action in your local area.

    Why is this important?

Human activities, mainly the burning of fossil fuels – coal, oil, and gas – have caused rapid warming over the past 100 years. The change in climate has led to more frequent and intense weather, warming of oceans and sea-level rise. Climate action requires the support of everyone – from residents to businesses, local authorities to community groups – we all have a part to play. Often, climate action can have many co-benefits. For example, energy saving actions in the home can help save money, increasing green space can have a positive impact on people’s physical and mental health, and encouraging local growing initiatives can improve sense of community. The actions within this strategy will show how the partnership is responding to the climate crisis.

    What information is being collected?

Through the survey and the information being collected from you, we want to know what you think about the actions that have been proposed by the Cool Wirral Partnership for the refreshed climate strategy for Wirral (2025-2030). The survey will collect your opinions on how important you think each action is, how it can be improved and what benefits it will bring to yourself and the wider community.

Why is this information being collected?

This information is being collected to ensure that we understand what Wirral residents value and think is most important when it comes to making changes for the local environment. This can then be reflected in the refreshed climate strategy for Wirral and ensures that what is being delivered is supporting local people and local communities, in a way that you want to be supported.

    Who is collecting the information?

Wirral Council are collecting the information as a member of the Cool Wirral Partnership, who the data will be shared with.

    How will it be used?

The data will be analysed by the Cool Wirral Partnership and will be used to inform the delivery of the third and latest climate strategy for Wirral. It will be used to prioritise actions and resources, as well as inform the locations of delivery.

Who can I contact if I have any questions about the survey?

Please email coolcommunities@wirral.gov.uk if you have any questions about the survey or would like support in completing the survey.
